How does one progress through the levels?

Each student progresses through the levels at their own rate, depending on how often they go, any prior experience in dancing, etc. Should a student feel they are ready to pass, they should notify the instructor prior to beginning class. At the conclusion of class, should the instructor feel the student has performed at least 80% of the steps, he/she will be given a blue diploma which is turned in to the front desk so our records, and your new level, can be updated in the computer. Each level (beginning with level 3) is broken up into subsets in order to organize instruction. Subsets are taught on the day specified on the monthly calendar for your convenience.

Why do you use Rueda to teach Salsa?
We use Rueda as the method to teach Salsa because it is a great deal easier in a group class setting. Rueda is Salsa with a twist. A number of couples, at least two, get in a circle and start dancing in sync. There is a caller that is responsible for calling out the next step. It is really a lot of fun and entertaining. The result is that you walk out knowing how to dance both Salsa as a couple and Rueda.

Back to Questions
What are the benefits of Rueda?
There are a number of benefits to learning Salsa using Rueda:
1. You learn casino style Salsa dancing.
2. Since some of the steps require you to change partners, you learn to dance adapting to the many different styles of different people, making you a better dancer.
3. You get to meet a lot of new faces.
4. You get to develop your cardiovascular system.
5. It is a great way to unwind at the end of the day and relieve stress.
6. Best of all, it's FUN! FUN! FUN!

Back to Questions
What is Casino style?
In martial arts, you have different disciplines or schools of teaching. You have Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, etc. Much like the martial arts, in dancing you have different schools of teaching. The benefits of casino style are flexibility and variety. A dancer that knows casino style Salsa can more easily adapt to a dancer that doesn't due to its more relaxed stance & free-flowing steps. It also allows you the ability to do a number of steps that would be difficult if not impossible in other styles of dancing.

Back to Questions
Do I need to sign up in advance or is there a contract to sign?
There is no contract or advance payment necessary. We designed the program to allow more flexibility in people's schedule. There are some other schools that require you to sign a contract for a certain number of classes and you have little or no flexibility as to when you can attend these classes. You end up paying for the classes, whether you are able to take them or not. With our program, you attend class when your schedule allows you to. And you only pay for the class when you take it. This gives you much more flexibility with your schedule as well as with your finances.

Back to Questions
If I signed up at one location and decide to attend classes at one of your other locations as well, will I have to fill out another membership sheet?
No. You only need to fill out a registration form upon your initial visit. The computers at each site are linked together to the same database.
